A common scene over the course of 8200km where at times the only change being the subtle changing height of the vegetation and/or the incoming three trailer road trains. No complaints.

A well justified stop for the outdoor windmill museum, including Australia's biggest 'Bruce'! There is something iconic about the emitted sounds from a creaky windmill doing its unpaid work, this place offers the chance to hear an orchestrated twenty at once. (Penong, South Australia)

Although its hard to get lost on the straightness of the Nullarbor its still nice to refer to the map for location and little tidbits. Here the subtly staged image offers the connection between the printed and actual location. (Great Australian Bight, South Australia)

One of those iconic vistas that has to be seen to be appreciated. The sheer vertical and ongoing horizontal scale is rewarding to the viewer. Looking at the ruggedness and vastness offers an uneasy feeling as you stare southerly towards the next landmass, Antarctica. (Great Australian Bight, South Australia)

Set out in distance to accommodate the required fuel stops the roadhouses are scattered at approximately 300km from each along the Nullarbor Plain. How quickly the mindsets gets used to the now 'short' distance between each as the road goes on and on. Most of these roadhouses feature their own hard to say no to merchandise and importantly the tees for the worlds longest golf course. The par 5 here was long, dusty and signed with warnings for snakes. Well worth the $5 rental fee for clubs and balls. (Nullarbor, South Australia)

Just to emphasise the vastness and lack of topography of space the sign offers insight into the efficiency to get from one side of the country to the other. Just go straight. Self drive cars would be popular out here! (Nullarbor Plain, South Australia)

Taking short cuts to get to the quieter towns and their stunning beaches that would otherwise by out of the way. Well worth it. Even more so as a point of difference considering you'll be driving the same long stretch of road on the return trip. (Balladonia, Western Australia)

With a natural headland that teases as a connection path to the island its only gapped by a matter of meters at high tide as a rush of the current disembarks from one bay to the other. (Orleans Bay, Western Australia)

Our previous shortcut seemingly paid off when the store owner at the Condingup General store talked rubbish on other rated beaches compared to their own. Yes it was ok! Perfect white sands, translucent turquoise waters, a surf break on the headland and some pretty impressive big open skies. (Wharton Beach, Western Australia)

A place that continually offer its 'wow' factor with each visit. Lucky Bay in Cape Le Grand National Park, a short drive from Esperence is well worth the trip. Work up a sweat walking up Frenchman Peak (shown in the background) and then reward yourself with a dip in the incredible bay for the rest of the day! (Lucky Bay, Western Australia)

A well worth repeated visit with many years in between. Despite the uniqueness of the setting it makes one wonder of how many more incredible locations are dotted along the coast only in less accessible and more protected locations. Continual on the boulder ridden path over the headland to Greens Pool. Yet another nice spot to break up the travel. (Elephant Rocks, Western Australia)
