Exploring the outskirts of Inukjuak. Came across a deserted house where the vandalised window offered a viewpoint of the town and the final stretch of the Innuksuak River before emptying into the bay. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Although faux, the flowers offered some saturation to the community and a fitting resting place (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

With roads ending at the edges of town, quad bikes (locally known as Honda's) are the preferred mode of travel as demonstrated at the shops car park. Despite the signs warning of no riders on the front it was a common sight to see a whole family zooming past on their sole Honda. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Once outside of town summer houses start springing up. Spaces for solitude and importantly hunting. Suitable example of a tiny house. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Located north enough to be above the tree line, instead featuring a boulder dominated topography highlighted with lichen and in season berries. A benefit of finishing work that bit earlier was to enjoy the late setting sun, clambering rocks for the best viewpoint to discover the next hill was much the same. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Adding some colour to the subtle surrounds, offering coloured names to the houses. A community anchored on the mouth of the Innuksuak River before emptying into Hudson Bay. The waters seen are all frozen during winter, extending the reach for hunting. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

During summer the dogs are placed onto various islands around the community. Fed during this time they await for winter sledding. When we approached they seemingly bound out of nowhere, emerging from different directions to form a pack. This one was a little too keen to join us in the boat where although they look playful I was happy our caught fish appeased them. Upon leaving they ran along the beach following their food source. As the surfaces seemingly blend into one and landmarks gets lost it lends to struggles to find the horizon and/or direction (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Putting one of the supermarket boats to the test. Out for a day with locals to explore and fish. We were successful at both. Visiting various areas whether they were rocky islands or the similarly featured mainland it only added to the remoteness and ruggedness of the location. Emphasising the although harsh conditions the success of the locals ongoing connection and need of the land. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Having seen what we thought were the northern lights two nights earlier due to some subtle green in the clouds our final night in the community offered a much better and assured example. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

Still and immersed. Finding a suitable high point and beyond the community lights we were swiftly taken back by earths reaction to the unseen solar activities of the sun. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

A 360 degree experience with the coming and going in different directions of varying colours and forms. Starring at one as others formed over your shoulder. Hard to pinpoint the best as each created their own viewing engagement. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)

From subtle hints to the more obvious. Easily convinced that these were the proper northern lights as the sky burst with the saturated colours of greens, blues and purples. Long exposures ensured they were captured as witnessed. (Inukjuak, Nunavik)
